Constipation is the most common ailment witnessed due to unhealthy food habits and sedentary lifestyle. Constipation refers to a “disturbance in the digestive tract”, where the bowel movement is infrequent or hard to pass. According to a saying “sarve rogaha malavashaha” constipation is the chief cause of all diseases, as such a condition produces toxins which find their way into the blood stream and carried to all parts of the body. This results in weakening of vital organs and lowers the resistance of entire system. The root causes for constipation include low fibre diet, consuming junk foods, addiction towards fried foods and sugar; and inadequate consumption of water. Recent study also shows that imbalance in the gut flora also results in constipation; the imbalance can be balanced by healthy diet. Lifestyle and dietary changes along with good nutritional support contributes in long term resolution of constipation.
